about the last house in brooklyn

I wound up with a bunch of boxes marked:

After years of hauling them around,
I rented a massive warehouse

and sorted through them

Soon, I realized I had the story of my family all wrong-
and I had to begin a new one for myself.

I invited you to
join me

you ducked through paper chains

encountered music

and movies

you explored (photos by NIna Skowronski)

and opened drawers

you leafed

through pages

and read passages out loud.

You even helped me decide which things to keep:

By the end of the night, a new story started to emerge.

Now, a year later, I’m ready to pick up where we left off,
to revisit 1225 East 28th Street.
This time, its objects are making their way across the street of the GARNER HISTORIC DISTRICT to the fantabulous
Frank Welles Gallery.
This incredible space has taken the story in a direction
I didn’t see coming.
I invite you to join me. Let’s see what happens…together.
